It was kinda like the movies, less of a Coneheads moment and more of just a trickle. AP and i were in the kitchen playing and dancing a little bit when all of a sudden, I wet my pants. This is atypical behavior for me but not totally unknown for pregnant ladies, so i ran to the restroom while Andrew laughed at me. The thing about this alleged pants wetting was that it did not really stop. That was about 6:15pm June 24, 2013
Here is where we did not know what to do next. We called the number we had been given but it was after hours so there is a recording that asks if it is an emergency, it did not feel like an emergency. So we decided to wait. All internet searches and baby books in the house confirmed that this was a reasonable course of action and we just chilled. Rather, i chilled, AP mowed the lawn, cleaned out all the cars and probably built some useful art masterpiece. We had some supper. We went to bed.
Relaxing in bed felt nice, we watched the first episode of Downton Abbey. Then AP slept and i read until my eyes got heavy – about 15 more minutes; then i too fell asleep. Contractions were happening but they were mellow and far apart. Fluid leaks accompanied movement, things felt good and exciting and just fine.
At about 3 am a strong contraction interrupted my dream. There is an application on the ipad that I bought way back in February that includes a contraction timer. I started using it. After about 30 minutes Andrew woke up, ‘sorry about all the fidgeting, dear’. Another half an hour found me wanting to get up. I got up and showered. I felt like a eating, so i ate.
Contractions are painful now. They are still coming inconsistently, but they are strong and things appear to be happening. We have alerted the staff at the hospital that we are on our way. It is about 5 am now, and i just stopped to record events and have that snack. It still does not feel like we need to rush, we are relaxed and EXCITED!
